Close-up of a termite on wood

Subterranean termites are the most destructive pests of wood in the United States.

Termites cause more than $2 Billion in damages each year. That's more property damage than that caused by fire and wind storms combined.

Termite Treatment Programs

Remedial Termite Treatment
RID ALL offers post construction termite treatments for every situation. Whole structure protection is usually the best approach when termites are concerned, but zone or spot treatment can prove effective in some instances. RID ALL usually treats existing termite infestations with the least toxic, but most effective means practical. “Most effective” sometimes leads to the introduction of a non-repellant synthetic termiticide such as Termidor™ or Phantom™ to ensure the infestation does not reoccur. The interior of the home is almost always treated with organic products, but the exterior treatment may be performed with a synthetic material to assure success.

Whole Structure Protection
This type of treatment gives an envelope of protection to the whole home. When we treat an entire home, a guarantee is usually made against further infestation and the customer has an option of renewing coverage for a number of years after the treatment. Slab homes receive exterior treatment with either a non-repellant termiticide or a baiting system utilizing an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) active ingredient. The interior of a slab home receives a wall void treatment around plumbing penetrations with borate foam. Special attention is given to plumbing areas around bath tubs and showers since many termite problems occur here.

Crawl Space or Pier and Beam homes receive termite treatment where the termites originate. If the crawl space gives adequate clearance, then either borate or non-repellant termiticide treatment is rendered in the crawl space at the problem area as well as other vulnerable points. We recommend treating all the wooden members in the crawl space with Bora Care™ to further protect against termites, wood destroying beetles, and wood decaying fungi.

Zone or Spot Treatment
This type of treatment addresses only the problem area. A spot is defined as the area within two feet of the actual termite infestation. We usually treat the area within ten feet of all sides of the infestation with non-repellant termiticide, borate foam, or termiticide foam. Spot treatments usually do not carry the same guarantee as whole structure treatments, but a thirty day to one year guarantee is typically offered on the treated area.

Since termites can cause significant damage to a structure after relatively short infestation times, RID ALL will often suggest a compromise to the fully organic treatment. Termites are not difficult to kill and all organic products we use eliminate them quite handily, but they are very persistent insects. Most organic products we use do not remain stable in the soil long enough to adequately protect our customers structures, so we provide the least toxic control methods practical. We use the synthetics sparingly and blend them into the natural approach to offer not only the most effective termite protection available, but we offer control programs that blend into your environment.

Pre-construction Services
RID ALL offers traditional preconstruction termite treatments with a natural twist. Preconstruction termite treatments are performed before a home or building is completed. Traditional methods involve spraying chemicals on the soil to create a barrier before the concrete slab is poured. Instead of old fashioned soil treatments with toxic chemicals, we provide an accepted and approved treatment using Borate materials.

After the slab is poured and the walls and roof are covering the structure, we treat the wooden support members with Bora Care™ to prevent termite infestation. The product absorbs into the wood and actually becomes a property of the lumber. The structure is built around the treated lumber and the property is protected without a traditional chemical soil treatment. The borate products give years longer protection for the home than the chemical alternatives, costs about the same, and provide a certain peace of mind over chemical soil treatments.
